uses of solar energy

As we all know solar energy is a clean energy and has been used by our human being for a long time,today let us talk about the uses of solar energy.Solar energy is made up of solar thermal energy and PV energy.

The solar energy can be utilized for a variety of purpose.
1.Water heating
Solar hot water systems use sunlight to heat water. In low geographical latitudes (below 42 degrees) from 61 to 72% of the domestic hot water use with temperatures up to 63 °C can be provided by solar heating systems.The most common types of solar water heaters are evacuated tube collectors and glazed flat plate collectors and unglazed plastic collectors.

2.Heating, cooling and ventilation
In the United States, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems account for 32% of the energy used in commercial buildings and over half of the energy used in residential buildings.Solar heating, cooling and ventilation technologies can be used to offset a portion of this energy.

3.Cooking
Solar cookers use sunlight for cooking, drying and pasteurization. They can be grouped into three broad categories: box cookers, panel cookers and reflector cookers.

4.PV
In the last two decades, photovoltaics also known as solar PV, has evolved from a pure niche market of small scale applications towards becoming a mainstream electricity source.
By 2015 available efficiency exceed 32% and the maximum efficiency of research pv is over 55%.

5.Concentrated solar power
Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. The concentrated heat is then used as a heat source for a conventional power plant. A wide range of concentrating technologies exists; the most developed are the parabolic trough, the concentrating linear fresnel reflector, the Stirling dish and the solar power tower. Various techniques are used to track the Sun and focus light.
